first_imgIrish Skin Foundation in association with the Eczema Council of Ireland have organised a day of expert talks during their National Eczema Awareness week.A highly common condition, eczema affects 1 in 12 adults and 1 in 5 children.Eczema is an autoimmune condition where the skin can become itchy, inflammed and scaly. The skin may crack and weep. It is not contagious and is usually treated with steroid creams, and in extreme cases patients are prescribed immunosuppresant drugs such as cyclosporine. As part of Eczema Awareness Week, the Eczema Council have made a submission to the government on behalf of all who suffer from a skin condition.
