From the moment our children are born we sing to them….lullabies, favorite melodies from our childhoods, melodies that defined our pre-teen and teen years and perhaps songs that helped us grow into the adults we are now,” reflects OYC Artistic Director Cynthia Dinsmore. “Let our music spark a memory, a smile or even a tear.”Since its founding in 1995, OYC has been under the direction of Dinsmore, a well-known music educator. Annually about 130 girls and boys (with unchanged voices) participate. Singers are from public and private schools, as well as home-schooled. In addition to local performances, OYC choirs have performed in England, Hawaii, San Francisco and New York City. Over 900 singers have participated in the program over the last 17 years. This concert, and the May 20 “Another Op’nin’, Another Show” spring concert are made possible through generous community gifts.
