MD PSU Hand ShakeMaryland football is entering year two as a member of the Big Ten, and while the Terps have yet to establish a clear-cut “rivalry” in their new league, Penn State is one logical candidate to fit the bill. The programs are relatively close in proximity, compete for many of the same recruits and PSU head coach James Franklin used to be an assistant at Maryland. The connections are there. So is some hostility, as evidenced by Maryland’s captains refusing to shake hands with Penn State’s during the coin toss before UMD’s 20-19 win over the Nittany Lions last fall. Four-star quarterback recruit Dwayne Haskins, a Maryland commit, re-lived the handshake diss this morning on Twitter. He quoted a line from Drake’s song “Trophies” and took a shot at PSU in the process. A bunch hand shakes from the fakes.. But I do not want to be friends though https://t.co/PgaIwkFdE9— Dwayne Haskins, Jr.™ (@dh_simba7) August 5, 2015The Terps and Nittany Lions meet this season on Oct. 24 in College Park.
